Hi stampin’ friends! Welcome to my first Stampin ‘N Hop blog hop. This is a new blog hop for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators of all levels from all over the world 🌎 !! Let me introduce myself, my name is Kat and I am coming to you from North Carolina in the US.
This month’s hop is all about 2018 Occasions Catalog (available until May 31st)!
At first I wasn’t sure how much of the catalog I really was in love with but after looking at it numerous times (is 20 or more numerous?? 🤔😋) I have decided that there isn’t much I can’t live without!!! But I must say there are a few different items that are just my ABSOLUTE fav!!! It was ridiculously hard to narrow it down but here are the top 3 …
3. Petal Passion Designer Series Paper (DSP)
This paper can be found on page 23 of the catalog and it is AMAZING!!!! This paper is part of an entire suite (Paper Passion Suite, same page in catalog) but my favorite part of the suite is the paper, for sure! I have already made over ten different designs using this paper and there are so many more floating around in my head. 🙂 And, YES! There will be an upcoming blog about just this paper. Be sure to subscribe to my blog today to get a notification via email when this blog is posted! 💻
2. Waterfront Stamp Set
This stamp set can be found on page 48 of the Occasions Catalog. To me it is kind of like a hidden 💎. It is just SOOOOO versatile but the catalog doesn’t showcase it enough to stand out. And yes, this set will also be showcased in another blog (probably two or three as I have an awesome set of cards I have created using this an the Woodland Textures Embossing Folder from the annual catalog) and definitely a few videos on my YouTube channel.
Now for my #1 favorite item(s) from the Stampin’ Up! 2018 Occasions Catalog …
🧙🏼♂️🐉 Myths & Magic Suite!!! 🧝🏻♀️🧜🏽♀️
It is just so fabulous!!!! Don’t you think?? 🤗 Between the stamp set (with the unicorn [featured in my card for today’s blog!], dragon, wizard, knight and mermaid), the framelits, Designer Series Paper and wash tape, it just gives you so much to work with! I have seen some fabulous projects on Pinterest and Facebook by my fellow demonstrators and my 🧠 is just SPINNING with so many ideas of things I want to create! It is almost limitless on the kinds of designs you can make – from a simple birthday card to a picture for a kid’s room (can make both boy and girl designs with the variety of stamps) to a centerpiece for a baby shower!! And I can keep going! 😍
So on to my design for today’s blog …
I have decide to share with you one of the projects I created for a Demo swap last month. I used four of the five items from the Myths & Magic suite for this design; Magical Day stamp set, the matching framelits, Myths & Magic DSP and the glimmer paper. So the only thing I didn’t use the wash tape. This wasn’t because I did’t want to but because I don’t have it yet! Which makes me so sad because once I saw it in person, it has become my most favorite wash tape EVER!! It is just incredibly awesome and the picture in the catalog just does not give it the justice it deserves.
OK, on to my design for the blog hop today!
So being a mom, I am always in need of fun birthday cards for my kids and their friends. So I decided to create this with the Myths & Magic suite. When my 5 year old daughter saw it she said, “Oh mom, it is just so cute! I can’t stand it!!” My favorite kind of reaction! 🙂
Now if you did get this swap from me, you are probably thinking “Hey! My card doesn’t look like that exactly!” Yes I did add some extras to step it up for today’s blog post. 😊
One thing I added was glimmer paper that I used the sponge brayer to add Fresh Fig ink so it matched the rest of the card. There isn’t a lot of glimmer paper (it is framing the sentiment on the front and a few little cut out sparkles on the DSP background) as I wanted to give it just a little more ✨!
And I added an inside with a few more of those sparkles from the glimmer paper and another adorable unicorn!
HINT: If you want to get the most for your money from the speciality paper, use the part of the paper that is being hidden to cut out a few small embellishments. I did that here with the glimmer paper. I cut out the little sparkles for the front and inside of the card from the center of background banner. No one will see this as it is behind the DSP.
Besides the majority of the Myths & Magic suite being used, I also used on the Rainbow Builder Framelits to create a “pocket” on the front of the card.
I needed to create this pocket, as I ALWAYS ❤ when something is multi-functional, so the main focal on the front of the card comes off and is a bookmark!! 🙂
I want to share another project I created using the Myths & Magic suite. This blog was posted last month with my Color Fusers blog hop group. We all have the same specific colors every month and see where our imaginations take us! If you want to see more, check out it out here! 🙂
Whew! Oh my goodness this is a long post today!! But I just had so much to share with everyone I had a hard time stopping. Thank you so much for staying with me all the way to the end.
